Swimming Sports 2016

Oroua Group of Schools Swimming Sports
This event is this Friday the 4th of March at the Makino Aquatic Centre in Feilding.  Parents are responsible for making their own transport arrangements for their children to these sports. The bus will not run at all on this day.  The whole school is involved in this event, but the senior and junior programme will run separately.
All students need to be at the pool by 9.45.
Senior students involved : All senior room students, plus Kirsten.
Junior students : All junior room students except for Kirsten who will be in the senior group.
Junior students are to meet inside the Makino on the far side of the shallow pool on the grass, Mrs Cuming will be waiting there.  The students will then be divided into 2 groups.  Group 1 will do water confidence while group 2 walks to the library.  11.00 will be morning tea and then the groups will change - group 1 will walk to the library, group 2 will do water confidence.  Water confidence will include walking/running races, ball push, flutterboard races etc.  These are fun activities aimed at enjoyment and are a chance to show parents what they can do and what their confidence levels are.
Once their activities have finished at 12.30 (lunch time), students become the responsibility of their parents and are welcome to stay or leave, but please let Mrs Cuming know if you are leaving.
Senior students will assemble in their school group outside the Makino on the grass at the Apiti School site - Mrs Fielder will be waiting there.
The senior section consists of Junior - 8 years and under.  Intermediate - 9 and 10 year olds.  Senior - 11 years and over.
Students will have their event numbers written on their hands.  Can parents please make sure your child is ready for their event.  All individual events will be held followed by the relays.  The winners of the cups will be announced and presented at the end of the days programme at which point students will be dismissed for the day. The day should conclude at about 2.00.  Those parents who choose not to stay for the swimming, please make sure you return in time for pick up.
All students need to wear their school uniform please and to take a good packed lunch, plenty to drink, togs, 2 towels, a hat, sunscreen and warm clothing. The shop will not be operating, but Kimbolton School will have the usual BBQ and are able to sell cold drinks as well.
Because of the alterations happening at the pool, families will need to take their own shelter which you can erect on the grass area in our school group please, but please be respectful of others as we would like everyone to be able to see but please make sure you are well protected from the sun.  No one is to walk up and down the sidelines while races are on.  There is no postponement date, but the weather looks good for Friday anyway.
