CONGRATULATIONS Nicki !
We are very proud of Nicki who has been recognised among the Advanced Classroom Expertise Teacher (ACET) winners.
Teachers gain ACET recognition for 2016
Congratulations to the 347 teachers who have gained ACET recognition
this year.
The majority of portfolios demonstrated classroom and
professional practice consistent with the high level requirements of the ACET
professional criteria.
Panel members were again delighted with the insights these
portfolios provided into outstanding teaching practice throughout the country.
“Exemplary portfolios had a rich mix of qualitative and
quantitative data and the commentary provided clearly pointed out how each data
source contributed."

Summarising the complexity of exemplary practice in a concise,
evidence-based portfolio is a challenging task. It requires thoughtful
consideration of the ways that each expert teacher’s unique classroom and
professional practice demonstrate the ACET professional criteria.
All teachers gaining ACET recognition should be very proud of
what they have achieved.
Portfolio evaluation
panel
The 2015 panel was chaired by Dr Mary Simpson. Also returning
from last year were Ros McQuillan-Mains and Clare Jordan. Members new to the
panel were Roger Goulstone and Anne Cato. The panel were ably supported by
staff of the Ministry of Education. Information about the panel and the process
can be found on the TeachNZ website.
Portfolio evaluation process
ACET recognition is characterised by its professional and
procedural rigour. An independent panel of experts operated as a team within
clearly defined professional and procedural parameters to ensure fairness and
national consistency. This enables both principals and teachers to have
confidence in the final outcome.
Key features of the portfolio evaluation process include:
• thorough consideration of each portfolio by two panel members
• a second evaluation of each portfolio by a second pair of panellists
• moderation of each evaluated portfolio by the panel chair, with subsequent further whole panel discussion and moderation as required.

The Advanced Classroom Expertise Teacher (ACET) portfolio
evaluation process was recently completed. A rigorous portfolio evaluation process was
carried out by a panel of five independent experts from the primary sector.
Teachers
were notified of the outcome of their portfolio by email earlier today.
