Mark Treadwell - Presentation
This Thursday the 6th of August, starting at 7.00p.m. in the St Johns rooms in Bowen St, Feilding, the Feilding schools ICT Cluster are pleased to be bringing to you Mark Treadwell. Mark is an internationally respected educator, futurist and commentator, involved as a school board member and advisor to the Ministry on the N.Z curriculum.
Mark is a real shaker and mover and has real impact in our education system and is one of the main leaders in education that the government listened to when writing the new NZ Curriculum document.
We here at Apiti School his philosophy helped us plan our curriculum asd assessment, especially in the area of key competencies and IT. We value his expertise and his input into education and especially the impact he has on the N.Z curriculum. Both Mary and Nicki have attended many of his sessions including his presentation workshop day last year and found him extremely enlightening and interesting. This is the reason why he has been invited back this year. Principals and teachers are pleased to give those interested in education, this unique opportunity. So come and listen to someone who continues to have a huge impact on our education system. We do need to know numbers, so please ring Nicki or Mary tonight or tomorrow if you would like to attend. It is free and everyone is most welcome. The bus will be going and baby sitters can be co-ordinated if necessary.

Parent Interviews
These are to take place during the week of 10th to 13th of August. Mary or Nicki will contact you in the very near future to arrange a suitable time.

Handwashing - High Five for clean hands.
Please reinforce our handwashing message to all children :- Always wash and dry your hands before 'eating and preparing food' and after 'sneezing, coughing or blowing your nose, going to the toilet, playing outside and having contact with animals.' We need this message taken seriously to try to stop the spread of flus, coughs and colds, school sores, upset tummies. Your co-operation in this matter would be very much appreciated.

Needs
Thank you to everyone who has dropped off egg cartons - these are great for starting the junior room fire. We never have too many of these. Could we also ask for newspapers please.

E-Mail Address
To cut back on paper, we would ideally like to e-mail our newsletter to everyone so could we please have your email address.

Well that's it for this week, will hopefully be back in a fortnight.
Regards, Mary, Nicki, Mary B, Pat & Chris.

Oroua Rippa Team Plays Curtain Raiser

Sunday the 2nd of August 2009, was a very special day for me and I'll tell you why.....I left home at lunch time and headed for the FMG Stadium in Palmerston North. I had to meet my rippa rugby coach Jock, together with my Northern Oroua team mates at 12.45p.m. We were playing an exhibition game of rippa rugby as the curtain raiser before the Turbos game against Counties. Our apponents were from Feilding Intermediate. We played 10 minutes each way and had to call upon all of our skills against a very good side, but we played our hardest and had a great game.
Jock was very nervous for us and was pacing up and down the sideline. We had a really good referee who was fair and considerate. I'm not sure what the final score was but it was very close. After the game, both teams got to line up outside the player tunnel and held the flags up when both teams ran onto the field. That was really cool. We watched the game, it was very exciting. The Turbos managed to scrape in with a win in the last 10 minutes of the game.
A huge thank you to Jock our coach and to Mrs. Fielder for being our Manager. What a cool day!!
