CELEBRATING OUR SUCCESSES :
CONGRATULATIONS to all our students for the great speeches on Thursday and congratulations to Sarah and Johnny, who will represent Apiti in the Oroua Competition. Thanks to the judge Mrs Howie, not an easy job. Also thanks to all the parents and grandparents who came to support the students. Also well done to our students for sitting and listening quietly while others were speaking. Listening and Oral language are very important life skills and students who can speak confidently have an advantage in life.  High school teachers have often commented on how our students are very confident and competent speakers and speech writers which we attribute to our oral language programme which includes the junior oral language programme, school speeches and school productions.  Students  are presently updating their  Oral Language Matrix, these will be updated with you on google reporting. If you have any problems accessing this site, please don’t hesitate to contact Mary or Louise.
The students speeches and reflections will be uploaded to their literacy wiki page.

Turoa Ski Trip - 8th September (no postponement date as yet, but hopefully the 11th).
The mountain is very busy and we are having a few problems with our bookings, especially with wanting a lesson time of 9.30 which is the best time for lessons. The 30th and 31st is now not a good option and we are now looking at the 8th of September. Hopefully this new date does not inconvenience anyone.
Also it will not be good on the dates we had planned for, because we have been informed that there would be extra long queues on those days!
The Board of Trustees have most generously offered to cover the cost for all our students for the day, however parents will need to pay for themselves.  Check prices on https://www.mtruapehu.com/winter/schools-youth-groups
All juniors will be doing the Discover Ski package.  Most senior students have decided what they want to do, so speak to your child re their decision and could all adults please text, email or ring with adult needs, so we can fill in the school booking form.  We also need to know who are able to take transport as soon as possible please. There is a lot of clothing gear here, so please check before renting any. If you want to rent any gear we will need to know sizes.  All senior students who have an all mountain pass will have a helmet. Thanks.
Enviro Up-cycled Woodwork -
We would really appreciate help on the afternoon of this Friday the 25th of August.  Most students have their plan but students need help dismantling and/or assembling their project.  We welcome help from parents or community helpers, so parents, grandparents, friends, we would love your help!  Please ring Mary or Louise if you can help on any other day and we will re-arrange our timetable. We have got some tools and nails at school or students can bring named tools from home but these remain the responsibility of the student.
Manawatu Primary and Intermediate Schools Ki o Rahi Tournament
This tournament is for all senior room students on Thursday the 14th of September at Ongley Park, Park Road, Palmerston North. Students will need to congregate at 8.55am in their designated area, ready to be welcomed. More information at a later date. Transport will be required please.

The next meeting is Monday the 18th of September at school, starting at 7.00pm.  All welcome.
We reviewed the Apiti School Curriculum and still welcome feedback. Please click on this link http://bit.ly/2smutOF
