This event will take place this Friday the 17th of June at Waituna West School (postponement date: 24th June), but postponement will only happen if the weather is really bad!!
Students will need to arrive at Waituna West School at 10.00am.  At 10.15 all children will walk their age group course with a guide before races begin.
Races will begin at 11.00am with the 7 year olds (Distance - 1.4km).      11.15am - 8 year old race (Distance - 1.4km).     11.30 - 5 year old race (Distance - 600m).      11.45 - 6 year old race (Distance - 600m). 12.00pm - 9 year old race (Distance - 2.2km).           12.15 - 10 year old race (Distance - 2.2km).

There will be sausages/soup/slices/hot drinks/cold drinks for sale throughout the day.
We may run the races through a bit quicker than advertised times if the weather is a bit unpredictable.  It would be great if all parents and students could remain at the event to support the older students in their race.
Please NOTE:
 Boys and Girls will run together but will be recorded separately.
 Certificates will be awarded after each race.
 Hopefully the course will be muddy and there will be some water to negotiate for the older children.
Please make sure you bring a change of footwear and clothes as you may get wet and dirty.
 Children run in the age group that they are on the day.
 The course is similar to last year. Parents are welcome to watch their children from positions on the
course as long as they keep off the track and out of the way of competitors.
Could parents make yourselves available to act as a course supervisor at some part of the day please.
Parents will need to transport their own children to this event please, but if you have difficulty with this, please talk to Mary or Nicki a.s.a.p so alternative arrangements can be made.  The bus will not run at all on this day. For directions to Waituna West School, please google it or ask Mary or Nicki.

Term 2 Sport Rotation
Unfortunately, due to the weather and Oroua School commitments, we were not able to hold the Oroua Netball Tournament.
This term we are learning a new game; Ki O Rahi. It is a traditional Maori game that combines a number of skills and is proving a huge hit already. To learn more about it view the videos in our google classroom ... The Story behind it and Ki O Rahi 101
Like our other sport rotations, it will culminate in a Ki O Rahi Tournament.

Marae Visit
We are pleased to have recently had a meeting with Rangitane. They run an excellent school programme and we are looking forward to learning more from Rangitane, our local iwi. Thanks Geoff for helping organise this.
We have deferred our Marae visit to term 4 so that we can make the most of the learning as we prepare for our visit.
This week we will be learning more about Matariki as part of our learning programmes.

Scooby Doo Production
Production practice is now in full swing. All students should know their words. This year we are encouraging all students to further develop their part, add words and acting sections to make their character an interesting and integral part of the story. We want them to own their part. As your child practises at home, it would be great if you could suggest ideas as to how they can bring their character to life in our production. This week we will be planning costumes and the set. There are a number of dogs, of all shapes, sizes and temperaments, in the show. If you have any costume parts that suit this and you are happy to lend, we would appreciate it.
All songs can be found here to practice at home: Production Music
