These awards are happening tonight (Monday the 9th), at the Regent Theatre starting at 6.00pm.
Health Education
As mentioned in the last newsletter, Neil Buddle, Health Educator for schools from Family Planning, is working with our year 6 - 8 students. He will be teaching the NZ curriculum which can be found on the TKI site. This is what the Apiti School health curriculum follows. If you have any questions or queries please contact Nicki.
Swimming Lessons
Thank you to all those parents who helped out with transport for swimming last Wednesday.  Please note the date changes :-
11th, 18th, 25th November, 2nd, 9th (added) December.
(This date change is to allow students to take part in the Mountain biking Skills and Drills sessions on the 18th).

Our next lesson at the Freyberg pool, is this Wednesday the 11th.  A reminder that the first lesson starts at 11.00am and the 2nd lesson starts at 12.30.  Students will then return to school for the remainder of the day and the bus will run as normal.  Students need to take their lunch, a drink, their togs and 2 towels.  I have allocated students to the following vehicles :-
ANGOVE : Renee.
BLACKMORE : Savannah.
CUMING : Ava, Erika and Ella.
DIGBY : Huntah, Tyler and Jacob.
FIELD : Josie and Katie.
FIELDER : Fisher, Jackson and Bradley.
GILLESPIE : Lauren.
HOLDAWAY : Elliot.
KIRA : Caelan.
McCARROLL : Sarah, Hannah, Georjia and Phinece.
McKINNON : Nikki.
MANNING : Abbey.
PRATT : Brooke and Johnny.
SANDBROOK : Dylan, James and Kirsten.
Just a reminder, if your child needs a car seat for any school outing, please provide it. 
If any of the above arrangements change, please inform Mary a.s.a.p.  
Spelling
Because we have swimming lessons on Wednesday, junior spelling will be on a Tuesday.
Oroua Junior Gymnastics
This event is happening this Thursday the 12th of November for the junior room students, i.e Year 0 to Year 3 at the Kimbolton Hall.  This will start at 9.45 and will finish at 1.30 at which point students will return back to school. Students will need to wear their school uniform, take their lunch and a drink.  We will need transport to and from Kimbolton, so please let Mary know before Wednesday if you are able to help.  Parents may like to drop students off at Kimbolton and then return in time for pick-up or could share the trip with another parent.    
Athletics
Students are learning athletics each Tuesday with Sports Manawatu Coaches. We will also be practicing daily in preparation for the Oroua Athletics Sports. Could you please remind your children to bring shorts daily.
School Photos
School photos will be taken next Tuesday the 17th of November at 9.30.  These will be taken by Svendsen Photography.  If you would like family photos i.e with pre-schoolers, please let us know prior to Tuesday.
Mountain Biking
As mentioned last term, all students will be learning the nuts and bolts of mountain biking in week 6,  as part of our PE and EOTC programme.
The programme is as follows:
Friday 13th pm - Gear and bike safety check and skills (at Apiti School) - All students
Wednesday 17th - Skills and drills (at Kimbolton School) - All students
Thursday 18th (ppd Friday) - Mountain biking expedition at Raumai - Senior students only
We require help with transport on the Wednesday (to and from Kimbolton) and Thursday (to and from Raumai - you are welcome to join us!!)

GRIP Leadership Conference - 
This is a leadership opportunity for current school leaders and our next year's leaders. It is held at the Convention Centre in PN.
Date: Monday 16th Nov.  Time: 8.45 - 2.30pm.

Core Education Filming
This was a successful day of filming ... the focus "Use of social media to collaborate and communicate with our community. The resource video for schools will be published on TKI early next year. Thank you to our students and Ben for their contributions.
