Touch Rugby
The draw for this comes out weekly so Nicki will forward it as soon as it is received. Games will be between 4 - 6pm each Thursday. As well as Blair (our great coach) and Nicki we need 1 more car. It would be great if parents of students could offer to do a week to spread the load. If you can help just one way would be great too. There are only 8 weeks of games. Subs for players are $6. Please give this to Nicki. Thanks.

Health Education
As mentioned in the last newsletter, Neil Buddle, Health Educator for schools from Family Planning, will be working with our year 6 - 8 students. He will be teaching the NZ curriculum which can be found on the TKI site. This is what the Apiti School health curriculum follows. If you have any questions or queries please contact Nicki.

Well we had another amazing day on the ski slopes of Mt Ruapehu, the weather was sunny and warm, so we chose the date well (finally).  The students rose to the challenges, and showed fantastic commitment, who for some it was their first skiing experience and for others a chance to improve their snow skills.
Thank you to all those parents who took transport and supported the students and helped make this a really successful learning experience.  Accounts will be sent home in due course.

Lamb and Calf Day
Congratulations to all the students on showcasing their learning on Lamb and Calf Day.  Students entered into 10 different individual sections and 5 Whanau sections.  These were part of the learning plan for the last term and many of these were also used as entries in the digi awards and the art exhibition.
We would like to say a huge thank you to all those who helped out in any way to make this day a successful day (a real shame about the weather), especially to the Indoor Judges :- Shelly, Julie, Bronwyn, Kimberley, Jan and Lisa and the Outdoor Judges:- Donna, Chris, Joy, Rachel, Sara and Hamish (from Totally Vets).

To Totally Vets who so kindly donated the Ribbons and Rosettes (as they do every year), this is very much appreciated! Mary B and Rob Scarrow who judged the Whanau Group displays - not an easy task.  Pat for writing out all the certificates.  June for supplying the yummy scones for the judges morning tea.  To all the parents, led by ASSA, who supplied the great pot luck lunch and the yummy afternoon tea and Chonee and her helpers who helped out in the kitchen. Mike and Sara for manning the BBQ.  Ben and Adam for supplying the scrim and calf ring and the men who put up the scrim in the rain!  Adam for mowing the field - it looked great!  To all the parents for all the support given to the school, for all the exhibits both inside and outside and for supporting the whanau enterprises. Well done to our great students and their lovely lambs and calves. This day creates a learning opportunity which encourages children to learn the responsibility of just how to care for a lamb or calf.  This really is a community event and it was great to see so many parents, grandparents and community members here supporting the children.  Thank you to all parents who contributed to the great raffle.
