Sam Strahan Rippa Rugby Tournament
This tournament was held during the last week of term 1. Thank you to those parents who went along and supported our students and helped out with transport. Our Year 7 - 8 team made it through to the finals, but were beaten by Waituna West, congratulations to Waituna West on winning the Sam Strahan Cup. Our Year 4 - 6 team finished 3rd in their pool. Thank you to Ben and Adam for coaching these teams.
Thank Yous
A big thank you to Chrissy for all her work cleaning and caretaking over the holidays, always nice coming back to a nice clean, tidy school. We always get many positive comments about our school.
Thank you to those parents who helped out with transport to the Oroua Cricket Festival Day in Feilding late last term.
A big thank you to all those students who attended the ANZAC Day service, it was great to see you all there.
Zahn read out a special poem he had written - 'VC Recipient, Apiti's Son.' Zahn did a wonderful reading and made the school very proud of his efforts.
Our contribution to the ukulele group was great and enjoyed by all who attended the service, thank you to Jo for her encouragement.
A special thank you to Wendy Cawood who once again made us a wonderful wreath. Zahn and Kirsten (oldest and youngest school students) laid the wreath on behalf of the school students.
Manawatu Garden Festival Schools Competition
As mentioned in the last newsletter of term 1, we are entering this competition which is happening this weekend in the Feilding town centre. We are entering an animal sculpture made from recycled garden materials e.g tools, pots, old garden chair etc. Please send along to school tomorrow any materials you think might be usable for this sculpture. Also if you would like to help the students with this please let us know. We will be doing it on Tuesday afternoon and also some other days, depending on the plan which we're making today.
The school competition adds real interest to the show and is an exciting opportunity for our students to show-case their talents. Remember we won a glass-house one year with our bird boxes.
'Strings Attached' Puppet Theatre - Monday 12th May
Next Monday the 12th, the whole school will be travelling to Kimbolton Hall for this puppet show. The show will start at 1.30. Transport will be required to and from Kimbolton please. Parents are most welcome to stay for the afternoon or deliver and then return to pick up students. We will need to leave Apiti School by 1pm and will return in time for the bus. Please let Mary or Nicki know if you are able to help with transport.
