Manawatu Garden Festival School Competition
Well done to our Garden Sculpture group whowon the School section of the Manawatu Garden Festival. It was great to see all members plan and develop this action project so competently. It was a fantastic achievement in only 3 afternoons and as maths enrichment for a small number of students!
Many thanks to Andrew and Ester Knight for the inspiration.
Thank you to our helpers Mrs Burton, Mr Digby and Mrs Carter! Thank you too, to those parents who sent along bits and pieces of garden tools etc for the display.
Also a huge thank you to Noel Leeming for sponsoring the grand prize - an iPad, case and screen protector. I am sure this will be put to good use and will enhance our learning immensely!

This video was taken by Mike (from the Lotto add) for his T.V show - watch out for his programme on TV.

Bainese Visit
Last week we were privileged to have the student leaders from Bainesse School visit to talk to us about our learning through inquiry and action. We will visit them in the near future to learn more about how they are developing their action projects in their community action groups. Since last visiting us they have developed a food and cooking group and students planned their 2014 camp. It is a valuable opportunity to share and learn from others.

'Strings Attached'
Thank you to those parents who helped out with transport to this puppet workshop / show held last week in Kimbolton and thanks to Pat for picking up students from Kimbolton in the bus.
'We went to Kimbolton and did some cool puppet workshops.  Then we walked from the school to the Kimbolton Hall.  We watched a puppet show and it was funny, he made his sock talk and he was clever.  Then he did a puppet show and it was about Snow White and the 7 dwarfs.  Johnny was one of the dwarfs and it was funny.  I liked the bit when the stepmother asked the mirror "Mirror, mirror on the wall who's the fairest of them all."  The mirror said "You but Snow white is the fairest of them all."  The stepmother screamed and made my little brother Atlas scared.'    -  Chloe.

Fonterra
We would like to say a huge thank you to Fonterra for including our school in the 'Milk for Schools' campaign.  The students are thoroughly enjoying their 250g carton of milk every day.  The Waste Busters Whanau Group are responsible for the day to day running of this programme.

Mobile Dental Unit Visit to Feilding Country Schools
We have had a number of enquiries regarding the mobile dental unit schedule that services the  Feilding country schools.  We will have a mobile available from the beginning of term 3 to service schools on the Feilding country circuit.
In the meantime should parents have any concerns regarding their child’s on-going dental care, you are welcome to contact the Lytton Street School dental clinic for an appointment on 06 3236686 or 0800 825 583.  -  Regards Yvonne, Clinical Co-ordinator, Child and Adolescent Oral Health Service.

Our Condolences
On behalf of the staff, students and Board of trustees, we would like to extend our deepest sympathy to Denise and families on the passing of Duncan.  The school really appreciated the support received from Duncan over the many years with his many words of wisdom, and the tree seedlings he donated to the school.
