Working Bee
Thank you to all those who turned up to the recent working bee – Ben, Richard, Blair, Adam, Mike and Lance.  The boundary fence looks so much better now that the tree re-growth has been dealt with.  The pool cover has been stored away for the winter, but we still require some black polythene to cover the pool over the winter months please.  If you can help, please contact Mary a.s.a.p.

Capital E
Thank you to Wendy and Fiona for helping Mary transport the junior room students into the Capital E production of 'seasons' and to Te Manawa for the 'Body in Action' show recently.  Our students enjoyed both shows and learnt about performances. They also learnt about how their bodies work through the activities.

A good education is one that liberates, empowers, and enhances individuals, not one that imposes and instills what external agencies believe individuals should learn. Education is different from indoctrination”  Dr. Zhao.

Trailride Cameo
Whoosh!! as the wind brushes past my brand new EVS vortex helmet. Neeee! Neeee! As my KX 85 blasts through a straight, long paddock at 125 kms an hour. Dad and I have a race through the paddock, But Dad easily wastes me, because, when he was younger he used to race all the time and he used to win, plus I have 23 horse power and he has 54 horse power! Dad is riding his big KTM 525 and I'm riding my KX 85. We are at the Apiti trial ride and we are flying! We approach a big hill section. I think to myself this is my favorite part of each trial ride. I start off about 30 meters from the hill, click her in to first gear, pull in the clutch.....     - Cole.

Information from our Student Reporters.
Dear Wendy,
Thank you for taking some of us up to Trisha's Garden, we all learnt something new, I hope that you had a good time looking at all of her plants, hopefully we could visit her again.
Thanks again, from Hannah.

Hydro Rangers
On Friday we had a soup day, each group made some soup. One group made pumpkin soup and another group made noodle doodle there were all different kinds of soup. We went up to Trish's garden and she taught us a bit about all the veges and organics. She gave us lots of veges for our soup. My whanau group made potato and leak soup.  We had these healthy eating people (Food for Thought ) come to school and they taught us a bit about healthy eating.  We learnt how to read labels and we learnt about the food pyramid.
For our hydroponics we are cleaning it out and picking lots of tomatoes we are deciding whether we keep the tomatoes going for the winter. - Charlotte

Supa Small Blacks
We have just ordered some new sports gear. We have ordered some gear for our new table tennis table. We have bought a 5 pack of balls e.g net balls, rugby ball etc. We all have tennis lessons with Kurt on 21st, 28th of May, 4th, 11th June. We have also started the cross country training, Thanks to Mrs Gillespie for helping us train. Remember your gear everyday.  - Tom

Plantagators At Work
We have tidied up the shade house and growing unit. This area is now ready for the principals and other visitors to see when they visit our school.
So far we have put the bigger plants in the shade house and in the growing unit, we have put plants in order with seed trays, smaller pots and bags and then at the end we have got the root trainers.
Now we are going to ring Natasha from the HR C/Horizon Regional Council to get some seedlings to plant, and then move older plants into root trainers and into pots and bags.
After our production we are planning to make compost bins. - Huntah

Juniors EOTC
On Thursday we went to the Te Manawa ‘Body in Action’ show.  We got to smell the toilets and the clowns mouth too and we had to guess the smell.  We played a big game through the body.  We raced against the slippery floor against the time and we played a game that you had to guess how to use the right answer about the body.  -  Chloe.

Bon Apiti Update
The Bon Apiti committee will be going on to 2 websites to look for new recipes following the visit from the Food for Thought teachers last week, but for the next couple of weeks students will have the choice of either a cup of soup or sausages and wedges.  The price will remain at $1.50 each.
