Well the Apiti Show was a great day once again! Well done to all of the organisers and many thanks to ASSA for their help in making it a successful day.
Events for your Calendar
Remember to click on the Calendar tab at the top of our newsletter to keep up to date with these! We would especially like you to take note of the learning events that do not take place at Apiti Schools. We will require transport for these events and details about this are likely to be uploaded closer to the event date. We thank you for your support regarding transport as it allows us to plan a rich, focussed and varied curriculum for your children.

What's been happening ...
Apiti Show
We had many comments about the quality of the students work displayed at the Show. They put a lot of pride into this and set themselves high standards so it is great to receive feedback like this. Our overall winner this year was Ethan . Well done Ethan. Runner up was Huntah. Congratulations!!
Thanks to all the people who helped with the Judges lunches and golf. Thanks especially to the Wills family for running the golf and donating the prizes.
Swimming training
Students involved in the Championship races will have their last training session at the Makino tomorrow. Many thanks to Wendy and Mrs Walker for lending their cars for transport. Such a training schedule would not have been possible without this support. Please see below for information about the swimming sports on Friday.
Keeping you up to date with our learning ...
Oroua Group of Schools Swimming Sports
This event will be held this Friday the 4th of March at the Makino Aquatic Centre in Feilding (there is no postponement date, the weather will need to be very bad for the sports to be cancelled, please come prepared). The whole school will be attending this event, but the pre-swimmers will have a different programme. The whole school is to meet at the Makino by 9.30 as the first events are due to kick off at 9.45. Entry to the pool is free. Children will require their togs, 2 towels, their lunch, a drink, a hat and sunscreen. Students also need to wear their school uniform please. Could we please ask a parent to sit with the swimmers to make sure they are ready for their events – their event numbers will be written on their hand and programmes will be given out on the day. Could we also ask for two parents to help with time keeping. Parents are asked to arrange transport for their own children for this day. If you have difficulty with this, please contact the school as soon as possible. The school bus will not run at all on this day. The day should conclude at about 2.15, so those who are not going to stay at the Makino, please make sure you are back there in plenty of time to pick your children up.
The younger students (all junior room students except Brooke and Hayley who will be participating in the senior sports), are to meet inside the Makino pool, sitting down near the trampoline but not on it! At 10.00 – Apiti, Kimbolton and Rangiwahia students walk to the library. 11.00 - return from the library. 11 – 11.30 - playtime at Makino park. 11.30 - change into togs. 11.45 - start swimming programme. These events should be finished by 12.45 after which time students will be returned to their parents or if desired, the weather is good and a teacher is free to watch them, they may have free time in the small pool.
Cup age groups - Junior = 8 years and under. Intermediate = 9 and 10 year olds. Senior = 11 years and over. Age on the day. The winners of the cups will be announced at the end of the days programme.
The pool shop is out of bounds during the swimming programme. The trampolines and other pools are also strictly out of bounds.
There will be no lunch break so students may graze at their leisure. Kimbolton School will be running a fundraiser 'sausage in bread' with lashings of tomato sauce (cooked to perfection)! for $2.00 each, cakes/slices/muffins @ $1.00 and bread rolls @ $3.00, (no drinks).
EOTC
Great to see everyone at our EOTC meeting and school picnic. Please return the permission/health forms and if you would like to be considered as a camp parent, please have your form back by tomorrow at the latest.
Sam Strahan
This year we will be putting a Northern Oroua team into the year 7-8 competition and the year 4-6 competition. Trials for both teams will be next Monday at Kimbolton Domain. Both competition days are in the beginning of April (see our Google Calendar) Before this event we will be running the Oroua Rippa Tournament for the senior students.
Bon Apiti
The wraps are proving to be very popular and these will continue to be available during term 1.

I am about to start my project to beautify the area in front of the school office. I would be most grateful for donations of timber, bolts and topsoil. Please ring the school if you are able to help with donations of materials. Thank you. - Caleb

If you have seen this bike, please let the school know or return it back to school (no questions asked). The return of my bike would be very much appreciated. - Ashleigh.

ALSO recently Chloe's bike has gone missing , from the school grounds, it is a small pink bike.

Please help us to find these bikes, for our students.
