As the weather was not suitable to go skiing today, we will try again next Monday the 20th of September. Unless we hear otherwise, we will assume those going and the offers of transport remain as before.

Weber Visit
Tomorrow we welcome the teachers and students from Weber school. They will be sharing our learning and visiting our bush if the weather is suitable. Senior students will need to bring gumboots and warm clothes to present in the bush.

Plant Experts
We still have 20 Hebes to sell and 20 Kowhai to sell. On Thursday Caleb K and Jacob ripped out a seat out of the old girls changing room. We are planning on putting in a cupboard for storing a whole heap of gardening and potting stuff, like spades and potting mix. Our next step is to finish the shade house. -By Jacob
Mataroa school
On Wednesday the 3rd of September Mrs Cuming, Mrs Fielder, Caleb, Caleb and I went to Mataroa school. Mrs Cuming and Mrs Fielder did a presentation to all the principals from Taihape about how we use our e-portfolios. While they did that Caleb J, Caleb K and I went to a class to share their learning. After morning tea we went up to their bush. They developed this with DOC and had a seed catcher, weta hotel and a river. They had also made cloaks of knowledge that represent their bush. We went back to school and had lunch. After that I did my Internet safety presentation to their senior class.

Because there was so much water on the courts, netball had to be postponed last week. Thank you for your understanding. It was a difficult call to make but safety had to be our first priority. Unfortunately Waituna West is on camp next week so the date has provisionally been moved to the first Friday in term 4.

Blowing Our Own Trumpet
Last Friday we were asked to present our School development, big picture and links to the Innovative Cluster of Wanganui Principals and Teachers at Durie Hill School. In the afternoon Mary was asked to join a discussion to share how our students understand their next steps for learning, feedback and ongoing sharing of progress and achievement through e-portfolios. The feedback from the educators was extremely positive.
Brian Coles Director of AtoL said "They were blown away with your school's development , how you keep your students, parents and BOT so well informed. They were amazed at what your students are doing".
Next Tuesday 21st September he has asked us to present again to at Lytton Street to the local Feilding Area Cluster Conference.
Nicki is also presenting to the National AtoL Conference in the school holidays.

School times
Please let Mary or Christine know about your preference for school times
A. Same as term 2 & 3 (9.00-2.30, with half an hour lunch break)
B. Same as Term 1 ( 9-3 with an hour lunch break)
C . A variation , please feel free to suggest another option.
We will be asking the students and staff too, and then presenting this information to the BOT for discussion and a decision will be made before Term 4 starts. Please be aware, we aim to cater for everyone's needs. Nicki is here by 7.30am and Mary until late. Pat or Christine Lowe are available when we need to leave early for school meetings.

Communication
We aim to keep you up dated and informed through the blog spot, this is more current than the fortnightly newsletter and it also has photos and other media. We will,
at times,
also email you, as these forms of communication are a far more efficient, way of keeping you up to date. The wiki is also well worth keeping a check on as it shows current learning and your child's goals and progress and is one of the ways we celebrate success.

Please tell us if you do not now need a printed copy of our newsletter , we are trying to reduce the number we print in order to be more sustainable and also to provide you with a more interesting up to date reflection.

Please note the BOT section , the community news page, the calendar and the Jubilee pages on the blog.

Feel free to forward these links to anyone interested.

Thanks for your comments and support !

As this is the last newsletter for term 3, we would like to wish everyone a safe and happy holiday period and see you all back here on Monday the 11th of October at 9.00a.m.
