Senior Room Recount of the week:
Peeeeeeeep the whistle blows. The ball is high in the sky. The ball zooms down and plop the ball falls into the arms of the opposition. Thud!! He gets tackled. They try to pass the ball to the wing but I stopped them and got the turnover.
Now Hugo was running to the sideline, he cuts back in and scores the try.
Boot! The ball is high in the sky again. It’s the same play but this time I scored the try and then another. We weren’t just gliding up we were skyrocketing. By the first quarter we had scored 4 tries. The quarters were 10 minutes long.
Us, the mighty Feilding under ten Highlanders, were kicking off again. The opposition were running down the sideline but he was tackled and the turnover was forced. The ball was passed all the way over to me and I ran and stepped and no one could catch me so I banged the ball down and that was my third try.
The opposition have the ball. I’m standing alone on the wing. The tallest boy on the field ran across and towards me thinking that I would chicken out but I didn’t. I put my shoulder down and hammered him to the ground. He loses the ball. I scoop the ball up and score. The final score was 19-2. I didn’t get player of the day but I got 'move of the day' with my tackle and try. I got trophy of the week for the tackle. The trophy had the words ‘For being awesome’.

This Thursday we will attend the Kahurangi Maori Dance performance (Maori Myths and Legends retold in drama, dance and song) at Kimbolton.  This event is for all of our students.  Students will be divided into groups = Year 1 – 3 (to work at Kimbolton School and Years 4 – 8 (at the Kimbolton Hall) to work in Re Reo workshops.  The programme starts at 9.00am so our students will need to leave Apiti before 8.40.  For school bus students, the bus will run 15 minutes earlier.
Lunch will be a shared lunch of finger food.  Each Whanau Group will be making something to take for this lunch on Wednesday afternoon at school.  However, students will still need to take their own morning tea and a drink along with their lunch box so they can collect their lunch in at lunch time.  Students will need to wear their school uniform please.
The programme will finish at 2.00 and if the weather permits, there will be a jump jam session to finish off – learning the routine for e Poi.  The bus will then pick students up from Kimbolton and return them back to school and home.
