Welcome to week 9 of term 4, 2015 and only 2 weeks of term left!!
This is the last newsletter for 2015 and we'd like to thank all our supporters for this year; the Board of Trustees, parents, community, staff and of course the students. It's been an amazing year, full of successes. We are all very proud of our school and look forward to sharing it with ERO in early March 2016.

5th February 2016 - Term 1 2016 starts at 9.00am.
14th March - Education Review Office (ERO) visit.

Annual Bush Walk - Tuesday 8th December
This event which has kindly been organised by Jock is happening tomorrow and is suitable for the whole school. We will leave Apiti school at 9.00am and meet at the Rangi Hut car-park at the end of Renfrew Road at 9.30 (you are welcome to leave from home). Students need to take their lunch in a paper or plastic bag - no lunch boxes please, a drink and good walking shoes. As the weather is looking a little changeable, a sun-hat or a warm hat and a windproof / shower-proof jacket. If the weather is bad, the walk will be postponed until Monday the 14th. We will head home following our return to the car-park.
All members of the community are most welcome to join us, but please let us know if you are coming.
Oroua School Athletics Results
Congratulations to everyone, parents and students alike for their commitment to the Athletics this year. Well done to all students who participated. School /Community Pot Luck dinner
Thanks to those who came to the BOT meeting and the dinner. The students organised some great games and it was good to have an informal catch up with parents.
Oroua Disco at Apiti
The disco had a great turn out. Thank you to everyone who attended and the parents who transported their kids. I think everyone had a great night! Special thanks to Sarah and Caleb Jensen for helping me decorate and doing the sound, Sara and Mike for supporting me buying decorations, food and moving seats and Adam and the team of kids for helping clean up afterwards. - Hannah.
Coming Up...
Year 8 Leavers Dinner - Monday 7th December
This event is happening tonight in the Apiti Bar and Grill. The evening will start at 5.30pm with our guest speaker at 6.00, a small presentation to the Leavers and then dinner at 6.30. This is a special occasion for our Year 8 Leavers and their parents. We hope Huntah, Hannah and Nikki enjoy their special night.
Swimming Lessons - 9th December
The next and final swimming lessons will be this Wednesday the 9th of December. There is a slightly different programme as follows :
9.45 leave school.
10.45 Swim Safety talk.
11.00 - 11.30 1st lesson.
11.30 - 12.00 free time.
Lunch
12.30 -1.00 2nd lesson
1.00 - 2.00 Aqua-Run Inflatables.
We will be back in time for the bus run if need be.

School Reports
The students reports will be uploaded to their record keeping page this week. Please contact the school if you would like us to print you a copy. Also, please feel free to to discuss any aspect of your student's education with us by making a suitable time.
Uniforms
Could all uniforms please be returned to school by early next week for Mrs Prince to re-organise them for 2016. If you feel your child needs a larger size in any of the uniform items e.g, pants, jacket etc, please write a note and enclose it in the bag with the returned uniform. Thank you.
Final Assembly for 2015 - Wednesday 16th December
Our final assembly for Term 4, 2015, will be held on Wednesday the 16th starting at 1.15 in the senior room. We would love to see all members of the community attend this assembly.
Library Books
We would like all library books returned to school a.s.a.p please. Once we have collated all books, children will be able to take out new books for holiday reading.
Ski Accounts
Thank you to all those who have paid their ski accounts. Could those who still need to pay, please do so as soon as possible, as settlement before the end of term would be very much appreciated. The swimming accounts will be sent home after the final swimming lessons this Wednesday.
Student Celebration Day - Thursday 17th December
All students are planning this day. As part of the day, we will have a secret Santa (names will be drawn from a hat on Friday). Students are encouraged to make or design a gift for this. Any cost should be no more than $5.00 e.g Christmas baking, crafty creation etc. More info to come on activities students plan for the day at a later date.
Year 8 Leavers
We would like to wish our Year 8 Leavers, Huntah, Hannah and Nikki all the very best for their future schooling and beyond. We look forward to hearing of their success in the future.
