Events for your Calendar
Remember to click on the Calendar tab at the top of our newsletter to keep up to date with these! We would especially like you to take note of the learning events that do not take place at Apiti Schools. We will require transport for these events and details about this are likely to be uploaded closer to the event date. We thank you for your support regarding transport as it allows us to plan a rich, focussed and varied curriculum for your children.

What's been happening ...

We would like to thank every one for their help to make this year's camp successful, both while on camp and behind the scenes! A proper appreciation will be given at our assembly at 2.30 on Friday. Below are a few snapshots ...

Jo
I also really enjoyed sleeping at the aquarium and sleeping with the fish. It was a new experience. I really enjoyed the cheese factory and doing the kayaking. The cool part about kayaking was watching Ava kayak by herself. I also enjoyed helping Ava with laser force. The thing I loved the most was watching Mum and Caleb swim with the sharks. It was amazing. I am really looking forward to seeing you next year. I hope you can come next year and be my sleeping parent and my whanau group parent. - Ashleigh
Maryann
Thank you for being my camp parent. I enjoyed laser force because I was awesome at it. Next year I hope camp will be at a better place like we could stay at Laser Force again or go to Taupo again. David was funny and he was being a chimpanzee. – Ben
Mike
Thank you for being my camp parent. You were always there when I needed you and you looked after my money.
I really appreciated your help when we got stuck on a question during the Aquarium Scavenger Hunt.
I really enjoyed Laser Force but sometimes I couldn`t find the button that you had to press to fire a laser so Ashleigh helped me find it. I came 3rd in both rounds but even if I came last I wouldn’t care because I just wanted to have fun.
I hope you can come next year. I am looking forward to next year’s camp. - Charlotte
Sheree
Thank you for being my camp parent. I really appreciated the way you helped our group when they needed it. You were practically our real parent. I also appreciated the way you drove me there. I had a really exciting time.
I really enjoyed laser force and the kayaking. Laser force was one of my favorite things that I have done on any of the camps that we’ve been on. Kayaking is one of the things that we mostly do at least once a year. With the kayaking, I liked it when Tom and I jumped out and swapped kayaks.
I hope you can come next time. I’m really looking forward to the country camp. I hope we go camping. It will be awesome. - Chevelle
Wendy
Thank you for helping me in my whanau group. Thank you for looking after my money while we weren’t in a shop. I really enjoyed having you as my camp leader because you helped us.
I liked laser force the best because I got to go in a dark room with a laser gun. I liked the ramp that you could go up to get to the top bit so we could hide away from the other team! I sometimes accidently shone the light on my own team.
I liked the aquarium too because we got to sleep with the fish. I liked the shop the best there because there were lots of cool things. I bought 7 things. I made Emma something with the paper and stuff that I got.
I was scared when Caleb swam with the sharks. I thought that he was going to get eaten by the sharks which would not be good!
I hope you can come next time. I am looking forward to knowing who my camp parent will be next time. I hope you enjoyed camp this year. You have been my sleeping parent 3 years in a row.
What did you like? What camp is the one you liked best? – Hannah
Fiona
Thank you for being a good camp parent. My favourite place on the first day was the honey farm. I learnt a lot of things like the bumble bee steals honey out of the hive. On the next day I enjoyed laser force because I was the only one in the green team who got caught by the orange team so I had to run. And on the last day I liked Ocean Spa. We had a great time together; especially in the aquarium when we got worried about Brooke when we lost her. We had a great time - Logan
Kate
Thank you for being my mum on school camp. I liked it at the aquarium when the diver fed the fish. She spun in a circle underwater. She did 3 circles. The crayfish climbed on her leg and she hugged the crayfish. I would like to hug the crayfish and she stroked it as well. - Ava

Science Road Show
Many thanks to Hilton for providing transport to the Science Roadshow in Feilding today. This is an extremely valuable learning opportunity as we prepare for our Science and technology focus in term two and three.
Keeping you up to date with our learning ...
Just a reminder that the Weetbix Triathlon is on the 23rd of March. Any students can be involved in this. There is a flyer in our foyer or log on to http://tryathlon.weetbix.co.nz/ to read more or register. This is not a compulsory part of our school curriculum but is a very worthwhile event.
You will notice on our Google Calendar that the date for the Oroua triathlon has been bought forward a week (to the 29th of March), as it was found that the Sam Strahan dates clashed when they were announced. Could parents take their own children to Rangiwahia for the triathlon please. If you are unable to do this, please contact Nicki to organize alternative transport. Is their anyone who is able to take a truck or ute to transport the bikes?
Sam Strahan Cup
It was fantastic to see so many Apiti Students keen to trial for our Northern Oroua Sam Strahan senior and Junior Cup teams recently. This is great extension for our students, both rippa skills and building a team with others. All children really stepped up, listened and used the opportunity to practise their rippa skills. Well done to these students from Apiti who have been selected for the Northern Oroua Squad: Caleb, Chevelle, Ashleigh, Tom, Huntah and Hannah. These students will be training with the squad every Monday afternoon at Kimbolton School. They will need to be prepared with shorts and t-shirt. Thanks to Jock and Doug for offering to coach these teams. The Sam Strahan cup will be played for at the Arena on Tuesday the 5th April for the Year 7 and 8 students and on Thursday the 7th of April for the Year 4, 5 and 6 students.
Oroua Netball
Please let Nicki or Rose Brodie know as soon as possible if you are interested in your girls playing Oroua Netball.
Baking Dishes
There is still a number of containers here at school left over from the Apiti Show - a pie dish, a loaf tin and a stainless steel bowl. Please pick these up from the cooking room. Could you please make sure all containers are named as we would then know who they belonged to!!
